- Next, get outside! Take a drive around your neighborhood and look at other homes to learn what might work best with your personal preferences and style of home.
Vertical Siding
Board and Batten or ‘Vertical’ siding adds distinction to any home, and it is still one of the most popular home siding styles used today. The time-honored siding is a favorite among plenty of builders and architects, as a thoroughly modern material. At KWP, our Provincial Vertical Siding is available in the full palette of designer colors.
Design Tip: Vertical siding can also be used to add flair to the lower portion of a home or to highlight architectural points such as the gables. Framing your entryway, bay and bow windows with Vertical siding will further draw the eye to these areas.
Horizontal Siding
Installing your siding horizontally will bring a timeless look for your home. Traditional – yes…but with KWP’s variety of colors and profiles, your home will be anything but ordinary. Emphasize the character of your home in any of our horizontal profiles!
Design tip: Horizontal siding will elongate your home’s appearance however if your home is a 1 story it also has a tendency of making it appear shorter. The solution? Adding stone to the bottom rows of your home will add visual height. Keeping both exterior materials in the same color palette will also add a sense of grandeur by eliminating the harsh contrast opposing colors have.
Create design depth by mixing it up!
Mixing installations will also enhance the look of your home. Choose vertical siding below your windows, horizontal siding as your main exterior cladding and engineered wood shingles in the gables. Again keeping all these different materials in the same color scheme will ensure that your home will look cohesive and not distract from its beauty.
